Woodworking saw blades need quality tool steel

Woodworking saw blades mainly include TCT Saw Blade for wood and TCT Saw blade for wood Composite. It is not correct to think that, unlike metal cutting saw blades, woodworking saw blades have low requirements for steel plate, and ordinary carbon tool steel is alright.

Whether woodworking saw blade or metal cutting saw blade, its cutting performance is greatly related to the steel used. In the field of saw blade manufacturing, there are three kinds of tool steel which can be used to manufacture saw blade body. One is carbon tool steel, the other is alloy tool steel, and the third is high-speed tool steel. The first two kinds of steel are often used for tipped woodworking saw blade and tipped metal cutting saw blade. The high-speed tool steel is mainly used to produce HSS circular saw blade for metal cutting.

From the point of view of cost, carbon tool steel is characterized by low cost. It is often used in some low grade woodworking saw blades, but it is obviously not suitable for high grade woodworking saw blades. Because compared with alloy tool steel, carbon tool steel is relatively poor in strength and toughness, easy to deformation after heating, easy to crack after impacted by cutting force.

Alloy tool steel is based on carbon tool steel to add chromium, fierce, nickel, molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium and other alloy elements to improve hardenability, toughness, wear resistance and heat resistance. High-grade woodworking saw blades generally use alloy tool steel, such as SKS5 and SKS51 from Japan, 75Cr1 and 80CrV2 from Europe and so on.

For TCT saw blade for Wood and TCT saw blade for Wood Composite, after using alloy tool steel, its saw blade body is good rigidity and not easy to deform, which plays a very important role in high-quality cutting.
