High quality saw blades need top class diamond tip grinding wheels
Reasonable selection of grinding wheel is one of the key factors to ensure the quality of circular saw blades. The performance indexes of diamond grinding wheel include abrasive particle size, binder type, grinding wheel hardness, grinding wheel structure, grinding wheel shape, grinding wheel size, diamond concentration, diamond material layer thickness and material layer width.
The abrasive of diamond grinding wheel is synthetic artificial diamond under high pressure and high temperature with graphite as raw material under the action of catalyst. Its main component is carbon and it has colorless transparent, light yellow, yellowish green and black colors. Artificial diamond abrasive hardness is very high, compared with silicon carbide, grinding productivity 5 times higher, roughness 1 ~ 3 grade higher, tool durability 1 ~ 3 times higher. Diamond grinding wheel is expensive, poor toughness, especially strong affinity for iron elements, poor thermal stability, in the air medium when the temperature reaches 700 ~ 800℃ it will be graphitized, so it can not be used to grind steel tools.
Due to its high price, diamond grinding wheel is only composed of diamond and binder in the working part of grinding wheel. The thickness of the abrasive layer is usually only 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm and 5mm. The grain size of diamond grinding wheel is the same as that of ordinary grinding wheel. The grain size of diamond grinding wheel is 80# ~ 700# and the hardness of grinding wheel is intermediate. The concentration of diamond grinding wheel refers to the content of diamond contained per unit volume in the material layer, and the standard is 0.879g (4.39 carat) /cm3. Saw blade tip grinding is generally selected with 70%-100% concentration.
There are four kinds of bonding agents used in diamond grinding wheel: bronze, resin, ceramic and electroplating. Among them, resin cement is used more.
Because of the high hardness of cemented carbide, grinding is required to have a large grinding pressure, and because of its small thermal conductivity, the grinding is not allowed to produce too much heat, so the requirements of grinding should have good cooling and heat dissipation conditions, usually need to use coolant to reduce the generation of grinding cracks.
High quality saw blade grinding generally needs to be divided into rough grinding and fine grinding. The grain size of rough grinding diamond wheel is about 80#, while that of fine grinding is 400#-700#. The larger the number, the smaller the particle size, the higher the cost of grinding wheel and grinding.
