Have you really understood the tensioning of saw blade and its importance?

We often find circular indentation on the surface of the circular saw blade, which is the mark left after tensioning operation. We also often find that there is no tensioning mark on the surface of many saw blades. Is such a saw blade not tension processed?

Whether the saw blade is used for wood, metal, acrylic, or stone, it should be tension processed. Tensioning is especially important for the saw blades with large outer diameter but thin saw body and weak strength. It is wrong to think that tensioning is not important because the level of the saw blade is relatively thick. For the saw blade with an outer diameter of more than 150mm and a cutting speed of more than 20m/ sec, tensioning must be carried out.

In the process of rotation and cutting, the saw blade will be affected by centrifugal force and thermal stress.

When cutting material, the stress of the saw blade is σ= (σn +σt) -σc

σn: tensile stress due to centrifugal force

σt: Tensile stress due to tensioning

σc: Compression stress caused by heat during cutting

In the formula above, when σn +σ>σ c , σ is positive (tensile stress and blade body is tense). when σn +σt<σ c, σ is negative (compressive stress, and blade body is loose).

When cutting materials with the body state of loose, it will cause vibration or warping, so saw blades body often maintain appropriate tension, which is the absolute condition of cutting materials. In general, σn is less than σc, andσt is used to adjust the strength of tensioning.

There are two main kinds of tensioning technology: rolling and punching

rolling process, most manufacturers will work after body surface grinding, so the visible roll mark left on the saw body; And punch processing, it is operated before saw body surface grinding, and the punch mark generated will be unvisible after the subsequent saw body surface grinding process.

Which of the above two kinds of tensioning is better?

Rolling process can mainly get radial prestress with high working efficiency; Punch processing can get more uniform stress, and radial prestressing and tangential prestressing can take into account together, which lets the cutting effect better in the aluminum alloy cutting and fine cutting of other materials.
